Clean Up Volunteer needed

We need a volunteer to recruit people and organize camp clean up daily and on Sat. to insure we get our deposit back.

This would be someone to plan our evening get togethers either around the fire or in the dining area. Some ideas for this time would be fashion show, talent show, African drumming (Kelly can help arrange this and this could either go here or in kids programming), Volunteers to do camp songs around the fire. We would need this on Wed, Thurs and Friday.

Adult Programming Need volunteer

We need a volunteer for this as well. This would be recruiting and organizing volunteers for adult classes during the day from 9-12 on Thursday and Friday. Some ideas we had were a cooking class, Hair/ skin care Panelist of older adopted children, Coffee Ceremony, Hope circle (Kelly has already volunteered for this)

Kids programming

We also need a volunteer to head this up. What this would entail is planning activities for the 9-12 hour block on Thursday and Friday. This would be for kids from 4-14. It would also include recruiting & training our Staff counselors the teens, young adults to work with the kids. Some ideas we had Olympics (talk about some great African Athletes and do Olympic activities , water day, African art, African music and dance. (just ideas) You and your team would decide the activities.

Food - We need someone to head this up

So we will need three meals a day. We are thinking 8am, 12 pm, and 6 PM. We will need someone to plan the meals, organize volunteers to help prepare the meals, Organize clean up crews for each meal, give us a ballpark figure of how much it will cost to feed 100 people for three days. etc.. This is not my forte please someone volunteer.
So wed I thought families could have already eaten lunch, and then we could have a potluck dinner that night. Thursday and Friday we will need to have all three meals, Saturday check out is at 1 pm so I thought breakfast and sack lunches. We also thought it would be good to have Ethiopian food one day, Caribbean food one day, and African American food one day.

Lodging

Our plan is to have the Camp at Camp Pinecliff located in Coalville (actually 11 mi up the canyon) 20 miles north of Park city on the I80. It has 14 cabins that have 8-12 people in each. It has a full service kitchen available as well as a large dining hall with tables and chairs. The camp holds approximately 100-125 campers. There are beautiful hikes, a volleyball court, baseball diamond, and a big field for recreation. They also have recreation equipment as well. They have bathrooms with showers. We will be responsible for keeping things clean but all pans, utensils dishwares and cleaning supplies are included in the rental price.

Camp Africa

Our mission of Camp Africa is to provide cultural connections for our children to their ancestry making their life deeper and more connected to their past. We also want to provide a place where if only once a year our children are the majority and not the minority. This will be a safe place to make connections and build lifelong friendships. For all of us a key goal is to make this camp affordable to all to desire to attend and we will be doing everything at cost. We will ask all involved to please consider donating their services. Our hope is to keep the cost >$200 for campers 12 and older, >$150 for campers 6-11 > $100 for campers 3-6 and free for 0-3. We will be charging only cost so hopefully those #'s will drop. When we begin registration we will be asking for a $50 deposit for each family in order to reserve the camp. That money will either be refunded after the camp is left clean or rolled over to a deposit for next year.(your choice) We will need all families to volunteer so if you would e-mail me if you are interested in specific things that would be great.
